NetBSD 1.6.1 is bootable / installable. It runs rock solid on my more-or-less stock Atari TT030. Installation requires two 1.44MB floppies -- the rest of NetBSD can be installed via the net, assuming you have a supported ethernet card.

NetBSD Kernels 2.x and 3.x are bootable but the OS will not install properly.

NetBSD Kernel 4.0 won't currently boot.

1/20/09 Update: Thanks to some hard work by folks on the port-atari mailing list, NetBSD 4 and 5 daily builds now boot/install NetBSD without a hitch! I will begin the process of updating the wiki articles to apply to 5.0, but this may take some time.

10/30/09 Update: No progress since the last update. But as of right now, I'm updating the articles for NetBSD 5.0.1.

10/24/10 Update: The wiki articles are now in pretty good shape and I'm just cleaning up small issues here and there. Eagerly awaiting the release of NetBSD 5.1!

I've compiled installation walkthroughs for the base OS as well as a number of packages. See the "Installing it" and "Running it" sections of this wiki.
